VANOZZA
VANOZZA is a food brand from Hamburg. We develop second-generation plant-based cheese alternatives — born in the restaurant kitchen, made for the restaurant kitchen. For us, taste is never up for compromise: our products melt, pull strings, and handle just like dairy cheese. Because we could never give up cheese ourselves — and with VANOZZA, no one has to. Now available in wholesale and at the supermarket.

Yes, cheese!
La Dolce Vita for us and our planet
In 2015, Nico opened the first vegan pizzeria in Hamburg. But something was missing: the ideal vegan pizza cheese that pulls creamy strings. Inspired by his aunt’s recipe from northern Italy, he began developing his own plant-based cheese. After 1,000 attempts and with the support of experienced food technologists, the VANOZZA mozzarella was born — a vegan cheese alternative that combines traditional craftsmanship with modern food technology.
Starting out in wholesale, we have been supplying restaurants all over Germany since our founding in 2022. That same year, VANOZZA received the Food Innovation Camp FOOD AWARD. Since 2023, our products have also been available in grocery stores. In 2024 we won the Startup Days at Grüne Woche, and in 2025 we were honored at ANUGA for our brie.
Today, Nico and Marie stand behind VANOZZA together with their team. From plant-based mozzarella and brie to cream cheese alternatives, our hard-cheese-style Old Italian, and the No Sheep Greek, all the way to our first sauce – we develop what excites us and what works both in professional kitchens and in small home ones. Our vision is clear: plant-based cheese alternatives so convincing in taste and quality that giving up cheese is no longer a topic.
Pleasure & responsibility belong together
We firmly believe that pleasure and a plant-based diet are not mutually exclusive. Our entire team stands behind a vegan lifestyle. And you can taste exactly that in every product we develop.
For us, sustainability does not stop at the recipe. We aim to think it through across the entire product: from ingredient sourcing and responsible supplier relationships to packaging.
And it’s measurable: together with CarbonTag, we proved it for our No Sheep Greek in an independent life cycle assessment – from ingredient sourcing to delivery. More info here.
Our Old Italian is our first product to come in high-barrier paper packaging that is recyclable in the paper stream – developed together with Hamburg-based company one.five. It won’t be the last. We keep learning, we keep evolving – and that is exactly what sustainability and responsibility mean to us.
